Applying for a Place
Regrettably, due to circumstances outside of our control, we will not be able to process your application(s) as quickly as usual. Be assured once normality prevails we will endeavour to process your application as quickly as possible.
If you are interested in joining Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology in Year 9 or 10 to study GCSEs or in Year 12 to join the Sixth Form you should apply to the college directly.
Students from anywhere in the region can apply. Places are not limited to those living in Cambridgeshire, the main catchment area is considered to be the area within a 35 mile straight line radius of Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology.
Year 9 and 10 Applications

Timeline of Events for Year 9 and 10 Admissions / Applications
|October||Attend the Open Event and investigate the subjects and wider curriculum on offer.|
|November – December
||Complete and submit an application to the college.|
|January||First 50 places (up to PAN) will be offered by 10th January. Additional places will be offered according to demand/capacity and on the basis of distance from college to home. Families contacted.|
|February||CAST guidance meetings for all applicants who request them or where the college needs further information. Offers sent out by February 20th.|
|July||Induction day for new CAST students|
|September||Start at CAST.|
Year 12 Applications
For year 12 entry to study A levels and BTEC Courses applications should be made via ‘My Choice at 16’. If you are currently attending a school outside of Cambridgeshire, please select ‘Out of Area or Not Listed’ as your current school.
Entry for Post-16 study at CAST is based on previous attainment as follows*:
- Academic Programme (A Levels): Minimum entry requirements 7 GCSEs (at grade 4-9) including Triple Science (5 / 6 dependent on subject choices) Maths (6) and English (4)
- Applied Technical Programme (BTEC): Minimum entry requirements 5 GCSEs (at grade 4-9) including Double Science (grade 5) or Triple Science (5) Maths (5) and English (4)

Timeline of Events for Year 12 Admissions / Applications
|June/July||Attend CAST open evening, research courses and how these will influence your future university/career choices.|
|September – October||Meet CAST representatives at your schools post 16 information evening, have any remaining questions answered.|
|October||Experience interactive sessions at the CAST Open Evening on 28th October|
|September – December||Complete and submit application via ‘My Choice at 16’. Your school will help you with this.|
|February||CAST guidance meetings for all first and second choice applicants (second choice applicants will be invited to a guidance meeting depending on the availability of suitable courses). Offers sent out.|
|June||Induction day for new CAST students.|
|August||Exam results and enrolment.|
|September||Start at CAST.|

Results Day & Enrolment Day
Results Day – This year, A level, BTEC and GCSE results will be emailed to students using their Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology @cap.education email accounts on the morning that they are released.

Enrolment for Sixth Form – students wishing to enrol at CAST should come to reception on Friday 21st August 2020.
