Applying for a Place
If you are interested in joining Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology in Year 9 or 10 to study GCSEs or in Year 12 to join the Sixth Form you should apply to the college directly via our admissions team.
Students from anywhere in the region can apply. Places are not limited to those living in Cambridgeshire, the main catchment area is considered to be the area within a 35 mile straight line radius of Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology.
Year 9 and 10 Applications
Students wishing to join the college in year 9 or 10, should complete an Application Form, which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page, forwarding it directly to our admissions team by post:

Timeline of Events for Year 9 and 10 Admissions / Applications

Complete and submit an application to admissions@cap.education by the 18th December 2020 |
February | 75 places (up to PAN) in Year 9 and 25 places (up to PAN) in Year 10 will be offered by 6th February 2021. Applications received after the 18th December 2020 will be processed after the 15th February 2021 |
July | Induction day for new CAST students |
September | Start at CAST |
Year 12 Applications
For year 12 entry to study A levels and BTEC Courses applications should be made via ‘My Choice at 16’. If you are currently attending a school outside of Cambridgeshire, please select ‘Out of Area or Not Listed’ as your current school.
Entry for Post-16 study at CAST is based on previous attainment as follows*:
- A Levels: Minimum entry requirements 7 GCSEs (at grade 4-9) Science (6), Maths (6) and English (4)
- BTEC: Minimum entry requirements 5 GCSEs (at grade 4-9) including Science (5), Maths (5) and English (4)
*Information correct at the date of determination
Timeline of Events for Year 12 Admissions / Applications
June/July | Attend CAST open evening (further information to follow), research courses and how these will influence your future university/career choices. |
September – October | Meet CAST representatives at your schools post 16 information evening, have any remaining questions answered. |
October | Your chance to visit CAST (further information to follow). |
September – December | Complete and submit an application via ‘My Choice at 16‘. Your school will help you with this. |
February | CAST guidance meetings for all first and second choice applicants (second choice applicants will be invited to a guidance meeting depending on the availability of suitable courses). Offers sent out. |
May/June | GCSE Exams |
June | Induction day for new CAST students. |
August | Exam results and enrolment. |
September | Start at CAST. |
