If your child is entering the 9th or 10th grade next year, join us for an information session and tour. CAST Med is a Tuition Free, Public School that accepts students from across the Greater San Antonio Region.
CAST Med was created to add to the pipeline of much-needed doctors and researchers in the San Antonio area. CAST Med builds on San Antonio’s unique strengths and current educational gaps with an emphasis on medicine and biomedical research. UT Health, with its research expertise and growing focus on population health and health disparities, is a key partner helping design a path for students wishing to improve the health of our community. CAST Med will incorporate a three-way educational partnership between UT Health, the University of Texas at San Antonio and San Antonio ISD.
Students enrolled in CAST Med will follow one of three pathways: Biomedical Research, Medical Professionals, or Public Health Professionals.
The CAST Med campus is located at 2601 Louis Bauer Drive in the Brooks development. High school instructional spaces are to include a 215-seat auditorium and lab spaces for biology, biotech and engineering, virtual anatomy and computer stations.
Students learn by doing and innovating in the classroom and beyond. Through project based learning students tackle projects related to real world needs and will leverage the newest technology actively used by industry.
All students will have access to earn transferable college credits to include Dual Credit Courses from local colleges and universities plus earn industry recognized certificates to minimize the cost of college and elevate their resume in the workforce.
CAST Schools are tuition-free and open to students across the greater San Antonio region who are entering 9th or 10th grade. Our small class sizes provide our educators with the opportunity to meet students where they are and co-create a plan for future success.
CAST Med is located at Brooks on San Antonio’s South Side in a state-of-the-art facility that will support the students’ learning experience.
With a focus on three major pathways: biomedical research, medical professions, and public health, students kick-start a promising career in the medical field.
CAST Med welcomed its first class in August 2019 with a 9th grade cohort of 150 students.
Open enrollment will be available not only to students from SAISD, but to students throughout Bexar County as well.
